How to install Redhat Linux on VMware Workstatus 9

Hi everyone, Today I'll introduce you to to installation Redhat Linux on Vmware. Below are detail and specification of my laptop.

OS: Redhat Linux 6.3 

rhel-server-6.3-x86_64-dvd.iso (You can search on google with "FTP" word then download it :) )

My laptop spec: 
CPI: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3520M CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz 
Ram: 8 GB 
OS: Windows 8 64 bits
HDD: 300 GB
VMware: VMWare workstation 9

Let go to the first step


1. Open VMWare workstatus 9 then select Create new virtual machine.


2. Select "Typical" Option for install RedHat Linux Enterprise 6.3 on VMware


3.This is option for install RedHat Linux Enterprise 6.3 on VMware

3.1 Install by automatic detect installer disc image files (iso) 

This option will automatic select OS option from disc with standard RedHat Linux functional (Unix compatible not included) with Desktop support. 

This article will show you in automatic mode. However you can select option "I will install the operating system later" for manual option when you need select role for this server.


4.Input your Redhat Linux Enterprise 6.3 account detail. It will use as account login information.



5.Input your virtual machine name. This is using for VMWare name only not effect to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3 Guest OS.

Location can be selective to another drive for keep your VMWare Files.

This article will change to D:\ 



6. Select storage virtual disk (HDD for Redhat Linux VMWare Guest OS) minimum recommendation is 20 GB 

Type of virtual disk can be select by 2 option 

Store virtual disk as a single file 

This option for performance usage. 

Split virtual disk into multiple files.

This is helpful when need to be move to another machine. But performance will be decrease.

This article will select "Split virtual disk into multiple files" option.


7. Select option "Customize Hardware..." for change some Default hardware profiles.


8.  Make sure you are enabled option "Virtualization support" in bios from your laptop. If no option that mean you laptop may can't installation this OS.

Check you laptop complatible in

http://ark.intel.com/products/virtualizationtechnology

When your completed change hardware configuration then select "Finish"



9. It will automate installation with standard function and role of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3 some function would not be work and must be installation by manually.


It will installed VMWare no need to install VMWare Tools anymore. and already to use.;)
